Thank you for considering the Australian International Music Festival as your music performance tour in 2015.  This festival is an outstanding music education and performance event.

To enhance this experience the performance venues chosen for the festival are the world famous Concert Hall in the Sydney Opera House, Angel Place City Recital Hall and St. Andrew‘s Cathedral.

26th Australian International Music Festival

June 27 -July 4, 2015

ENSEMBLES: Youth and Adult Orchestras, Wind Bands, and Choirs will be selected by audition to perform on stage at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall and other superb venues. Jazz Ensembles perform at the Sydney Town Hall or Angel Pace City Recital Hall rather than the Opera House.

DURATION: 7 days

ACCEPTANCE: A maximum of 10 instrumental and 10 choral ensembles by audition only
VENUES: Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, Angel Place City Recital Hall, and St. Andrews Cathedral

FACULTY:  Past faculty at AIMF has included  Dr. Lori Wiest (USA), Dr. Margaret Pride (Australia), Mr. Cao Peng (China), Mr. Geoffrey Brand (UK), Dr. Robert Halseth (USA), Professor Mitsukazu Suwaki (Japan) and many more.

AWARDS: The festival jury will award each ensemble Gold, Silver, or Bronze plaques based on the concert performance. A Showcase Award category is offered for groups that do not wish to compete.

2015 Australian International Music

DAY ONE: Saturday, June 27, 2015 - Festival Opening Concert
 
Morning: Groups arrive into Sydney either by coach or air transportation. You will be met by your coaches (if arriving by air) and Tour Managers and transfer to your hotel in Central Sydney. Upon arrival at the hotel, check into your rooms.
Afternoon: Enjoy some free time and lunch on own. Directors are invited to attend the Official Festival Welcome Reception this morning. Sound checks this afternoon on stage in the Sydney Town Hall.
Evening: Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects. Evening Festival Opening Concert (20 minutes performance set) in Sydney Town Hall (TBC).
DAY TWO: Sunday, June 28, 2015 - Workshops / Sydney Opera House / Adjudicated Concerts
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). Sound checks this morning on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall.
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. Afternoon Festival Concert will be held in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. An Afternoon Festival Adjudicated Concert (20 minutes performance set) will be held in Angel Place City Recital Hall. Choral groups enjoy a group workshop with the Festival Faculty at St. Andrew’s Cathedral this afternoon. Sound checks this afternoon on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall (Adjudicated).
Evening: Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects. Evening Festival Adjudicated Concert (20 minutes performance set) in Angel Place City Recital Hall. Evening Festival Concert will be held in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
DAY THREE: Monday, June 29, 2015 - Workshops / Outdoor Pops Concerts / Workshops
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). This morning, enjoy a group workshops with the Festival Faculty will be held at a venue in Sydney (TBC).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. Afternoon Festival Concert will be held in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. Outdoors Pops Concerts will be held at the Darling Harbour “Harbourside Amphitheatre”.
Evening: Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects.
DAY FOUR: Tuesday, June 30, 2015 - Band Rehearsal Exchanges / Outdoors Pops Concerts / Sydney Opera House Concerts
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). A Massed Choir rehearsal will be held this morning for the Festival Massed Work in a venue in Sydney (TBC). Band Rehearsal Exchanges will take place, allowing two bands from different countries to combine, rehearse each others music and exchange.
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. Outdoors Pops Concerts will be held at the Darling Harbour “Harbourside Amphitheatre” Evening Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects.
Evening: Festival Concert (20 minutes performance set) in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
DAY FIVE: Wednesday, July 1, 2015 - Outdoors Pops Concerts/ Adjudicated Concert
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). Sound checks this morning on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall (Adjudicated).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. An Afternoon Festival Adjudicated Concert (20 minutes performance set) will be held in Angel Place City Recital Hall. Sound checks this afternoon on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall (Adjudicated). Outdoors Pops Concerts will be held at the Darling Harbour “Harbourside Amphitheatre”
Evening: Evening Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects.
 
DAY SIX: Thursday, July 2, 2015 - Workshops / Adjudicated Concerts / Festival Choral Concert
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). This morning and afternoon, Choral groups enjoy a group workshop with the Festival Faculty at St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Sound checks this morning on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall (Adjudicated).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. Afternoon Festival Adjudicated Concert (20 minutes performance set) in Angel Place City Recital Hall. Sound checks this afternoon for choirs in St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Sound checks this afternoon on stage in Angel Place City Recital Hall (Adjudicated).
Evening: Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects. Evening Choral Concert (20 minutes performance set) in St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Evening Festival Adjudicated Concert (20 minutes performance set) in Angel Place City Recital Hall.
 
DAY SEVEN: Friday, July 3, 2015 - Festival Command Performance
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). This morning will be free for independent sightseeing and shopping in Sydney (arrangements can be made through World Projects).
Afternoon: Lunch on your own and free time to enjoy sightseeing or own activities. Afternoon sound checks for Command Performance groups and Festival Massed Work on stage in the Sydney Town Hall.
Evening: Dinner on your own or it may be arranged through World Projects. Festival Command Performance featuring the Festival Massed Work. Afterwards, participants enjoy the Festival Closing Party at Sydney Town Hall (TBC).

DAY EIGHT: Saturday, July 4, 2015 - Departures
 
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel (if arranged through World Projects). Check out of the hotel and depart for your home via coach or air transportation. OR – continue your travel throughout Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific!

Package Inclusions
  • One gratis ground package for every 20 paid participants (based on double occupancy)
  • Seven (7) nights accommodation at a recommended central Sydney budget or moderate priced hotel, or student conference centre in Sydney’s suburbs
  • All Breakfasts – Seven (7) at the accommodation
  • Tour Manager for the duration of your stay in Sydney. (NB: it is compulsory that all groups have an Australian
  • International Music Festival appointed tour leader).

  • Participation in the Festival Massed Chorus performed at the Festivals Command Performance (participating choirs only)

  • Personal copies of the Festival Group Photograph (this will be arranged directly with the photographer)
