2014 World Projects Composition Contest

Calling all composers!

The 2014 World Projects Composition Contest is the latest and most exciting opportunity for all active and aspiring composers! We encourage you to submit either a new or pre-existing work. Upon submission, your piece will be reviewed by the World Projects Composition Board. This year, World Projects has the privilege of working with esteemed composers and educators Brett Abigaña, John Carnahan, and Johan de Meij.

The two winners of this contest will be announced at the 2014 Midwest Clinic following the World Premiere of Brett Abigaña’s “As the Wood Smoke Rises”, commissioned and premiered by the United States Navy Band.

If you are selected as one of the two winners, you will be awarded the following:

  • World Premiere of your composition by a selected ensemble at either the Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 2015 Los Angeles International Music Festival or at Carnegie Hall during the 2015 New York “Sounds of Summer” International Music Festival.
  • Roundtrip airfare (coach class) or Train transportation depending on location of festival.
  • Two (2) nights’ accommodation at the festival hotel.
  • Personal stipend of $150.00
  • Opportunity to lead a 90 minute festival rehearsal with the selected ensemble premiering your winning composition. Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
    • Participation in the application & selection process for ensemble that will perform the winning composition
    • Working directly with the Director of the selected ensemble in preparation of the world premiere
  • Your winning composition will be offered a publishing contract with World Projects Corporation.
