COMPOSER OF THE MONTH
|
February’s composer of the month is Vince Oliver! We are celebrating his most recent accomplishment, Press, which was premiered by the Saratoga Strings at the 2014 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. With complexity in the orchestral layers of the piece and a multi-leveled meaning in the name itself, Press is a rhythmic, driving force not to be missed. Press has already had a tremendous response!
Vince has an extensive background in writing for various ensembles throughout the world. Composing for both wind ensemble and orchestra, his various pieces have premiered at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and at the Palau de Música in Barcelona. Vince currently resides in Los Gatos, California. He is the percussion director/composer-in-residence at Saratoga High School, endorsed by Innovative Percussion, and is a proud member of ASCAP.
