Explore Turkey

One of the great undiscovered destinations for performing groups, Turkey provides an amazing musical, cultural and travel experience. For millennia, Turkey has been the crossroads between East and West, Asia and Europe.

One of the many Grand Bazaars in Istanbul

Steeped in history, Turkey has been witness to the major cultures and religions of the Western world. Greeks, Trojans, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans have all carved major and important empires while the great monotheistic religions (Jewish, Christianity, and Islam) have all been deeply influenced by historical figures and events in Turkey.

With destinations such as the historic yet cosmopolitan Istanbul;” important Greek, Roman and early Christian antiquity sites (the list is endless); the stuning natural pools of Pamukkale; the beaches and seaside atmosphere of Izmir; etc., Turkey is as diverse a destination as anywhere on earth. Its wonderful food, gracious people and numerous performance and exchange opportunities will provide a life-changing experience for your musical organization.

İznik, historically known as Nicaea

Performance opportunities abound in Turkey. First-class professional concert halls, university and cultural center venues, churches and cathedrals, and public squares provide a wealth of performance settings for all types of musical ensembles. Of course, highlights of any Turkey Performance Tour would include performance and cultural exchanges with local groups.

No tour to Turkey would be complete without an extended visit to Istanbul. One of the great cities of the world, Istanbul is one the most diverse cities in the world. As a (literal) bridge between Asia and Europe, Istanbul has been home to the great Byzantine Empire (when Istanbul was known as Constantinople) and the great Muslim Caliphate of the Ottoman Empire.

Hagia Sophia

Today, Istanbul is well known for its stunning churches and mosques (such as the great Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque), its historical buildings and palaces (such as Topkapi Palace and the Hippodrome), its amazing markets (such as the Spice Market and Grand Bazaar) and its modern cosmopolitan flair.

Numerous other destinations highlight the diversity of Turkey. Countless sites from Greek, Roman, and early Christian antiquity are ready to explore – major sites include Nicea, Hieropolis, Aphrodisias, Ephesus, and Sardes. Turkey also abounds with natural beauty including the dramatic Bosphorus Strait, the natural pools of Pamukkale, beautiful Aegean beaches (Izmir, Assos, Çesme Peninsula, etc.), the moon landscape of Cappadocia, etc.

As with all World Projects tours, your tour will include accommodations and meals to suit your group and comfortable ground transport. You will be accompanied by Turkish tour mangers / translators who will concentrate on the logistics of the tour allowing you to focus on the music. We look forward to creating a tour that is customized to fit your musical needs.
